The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) reported that on December 2 will be delivered the good favor of civil works and electromechanical Electric System of Mass Transportation in Lima and Callao, known as Electric Train.

He said the consortia involved in the process yet submitted their technical and economic proposals, and relevant committee is doing the respective assessment.

"We hope that by the end of the year the contract is signed and construction can begin no later than January 2010" he told Frecuencia Latina.

He explained that this project will have seven work fronts simultaneously from Villa El Salvador to Grau Avenue in Cercado de Lima, and is expected within approximately 18 months work.

"It's going to work in two shifts, which will help to lighten the base construction," the minister said.

He argued that the process is progressing and that example is last week authorized the Executive ERM expropriation of 11 properties located in the Cercado de Lima, to continue with the implementation of the Electric Train stretch to Avenida Grau.

The total area to be expropriated is 3.234 meters square, divided into plots whose area ranges from 52 to the 1.350 meters square.
